Karla Kaye Kafton

KARLA FAYE KAFTON, 54, of Follansbee, WV died peacefully on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA after a brief illness. She was born on October 21, 1968, in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of the late Beverly Lynne (Fletcher) Shaw on February 3, 2022, and Thomas Shaw of Wellsburg, WV. In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, John W. and Marian (Yates) Kafton. Karla graduated from Brooke High School Class of 1986. She also graduated from the Bradford School of Business in Pittsburgh, PA in 1987. Karla was currently employed by the city of Follansbee as an administrative assistant and currently was the clerk of courts and previously worked at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corporation as a secretary from 1988-1993. In her spare time, she enjoyed selling her homemade candies called Karla’s Kandie and baking other goodies for family and friends, but her favorite was online shopping for her grandchildren. In addition to her father, Karla is survived by her beloved husband Mark Kafton at home; four children: Sarah (Shane) Potter of Hopewell Township, PA, Abbey (Shane) Henderson, Melissa Kafton, Joey (Katie) Kafton all of Follansbee, WV; three grandchildren: Gianna, Paige, and Owen, and one on the way; two siblings: Debra (Chad) Cady, Brenda Shaw both of Raleigh, NC; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation for Karla was held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 until the time of funeral services, at the Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee, with Pastor Shane Henderson and Pastor Jason Cline both officiating.
