Minerva Grace Wilkinson Gutwald

MINERVA GRACE WILKINSON GUTWALD, 93, of Weirton, WV passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at the Weirton Medical Center. Born August 19, 1929, in St. Michael, PA, Minerva was a daughter of Joseph and Frances Ferguson Wilkinson. In addition to her parents, Minerva was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold A. Gutwald; sons, Robert Charles and Alan James Gutwald; daughter-in-law, Caryn Gutwald; and six brothers and two sisters. Minerva and Harold married on June 26, 1948, in Southfork, PA, and shortly after moved to Weirton, WV to raise their family. Minerva was a loving wife and caring mother as well as a devoted homemaker to her family whom she loved dearly. She was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. Minerva had such a passion for quilting that she quilted until she was 90 years old, making beautiful quilts for all her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading and working on word find puzzles in her spare time. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Terry J. Gutwald of Wilmington, NC, Ricky D. (Karri) Gutwald of Weirton, WV; daughters, Linda J. (George) Wilson of Weirton, WV, Carol A. (Richard) Gasaway of Roseville, MN and Rhonda L. (Jeffrey) Mraovich of Millbury, OH; daughter-in-law, Shelley (La France) Gutwald; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Friends were received on Saturday, December 10, 2022 until the time of the Liturgy of the Word service, at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton. Entombment followed at St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton. Donations in memory of Minerva should be made to the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 140 Walnut Street, Weirton, WV 26062. Minerva’s family extends a special thanks to Dr. Makar for the loving care that he provided for over 30 years, they will be forever grateful.
