Sharon Elaine Hoit

SHARON ELAINE HOIT, 84, of Wellsburg, WV died peacefully on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the Carriage Inn of Steubenville, OH. She was born on July 14, 1938 in Steubenville, OH a daughter of the late John and Jeannette (Penry) Mapel. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years Donald Hoit, her daughter Joanne “JoJo” DeMayo, brother John “Sonny” Mapel, and sister Gayna Domanico. Sharon graduated from Big Red High School and went to work as an operator for the phone company, Treasure Island in Steubenville, then worked for 30 plus years and retired form Koppers Inc in Follansbee. She was a loving care taker for her husband, enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and eating snacks with her dog Bree by her side, and was a very easy going, easy to please woman who enjoyed life. Sharon is survived by four daughters: Shari (Greg) Kilcoyne of Steubenville, OH, Robin (Kraig) Morgan of New Cumberland, WV, Deborah DeMayo of Toronto, OH, and Dawn Meyers of Follansbee, WV; four step daughters: Annette (Jim) Van Curen of Indiana, Jennifer Danielson of McMechon, WV, Michelle (Brian “Fud) Casto of Wellsburg, WV, and Dane Watkins of Steubenville, OH; her grandchildren: Johnathan (Deseray) Rush, Sarah (Ryan) Lamantia, Kenny (Natalie) Rush, Megan(Sean) Evancho, Daniel Morgan, Autumn Morrow, Casmir Smogor, Hunter Smogor, Nina (Michael) Lang, Marissa (Corey) Namack, and Cheyenne Smith; 13 great grandchildren; her sist,er Jan Clark of Courtland, OH; and several nieces and nephews, and her furry companion Bree.
