Theresa “Terry” (Filberto) Cross

THERESA “TERRY” (FILBERTO) CROSS, 79, of Wellsburg, WV died peacefully on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at home surrounded by her family. Born on January 3, 1943, in Wheeling, WV, a daughter of the late Anthony J. and Elinore (Canistraro) Filberto. Terry graduated from the class of 1961 of Wellsburg High School and attended West Liberty State College. She worked as a legal secretary for attorney Tom Love and later worked in the county clerk’s office for her father Anthony J. Filberto then Brooke County Clerk and retired from Cross Law Office where she was the office manager for her husband David B. and son David F. Cross. Terry was a life-long member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church the Altar and Rosary Society as well as a member of the St. John P.T.A. when her children were growing up and was a member of the Wellsburg Garden Club. In her early days she was a princess in the Mountain State Forest Festival in Elkins, WV. Terry is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, David B. Cross at home; two devoted children, David F. and wife Cheryl Cross and Danielle Cross McCracken both of Wheeling, WV; six grandchildren: Alexa (Brady) Pellarin, Erica (Sal) Conti, Bria (Trent) Schutz, Ashton Cross, MD, Adam McCracken, and Collin McCracken; three great grandchildren: Cross, Brooks, and Carson; one sister, Sharon (Filberto) Welch of Wheeling, WV, and brother, Anthony F. “Tony” Filberto and wife, Roseanna, and brother-in-law, Jack Arbogast, Jr. of Wellsburg, WV, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and close friends. Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at the Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee, with a vigil service. A Catholic funeral mass was celebrated on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Wellsburg, with the Rev. Father Justin Golna as celebrant. Inurnment will be held privately at the Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg, WV at a later date.
