Vera “Lavaughn” Coulter

VERA “LAVAUGHN” COULTER, 83, of Wellsburg, WV died peacefully on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at her home. LaVaughn was born on May 16, 1939, in Reader, WV a daughter of the late Glen and Mary (Conley) Shreve. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband Lyle Coulter; and one son Lynn Coulter. LaVaughn graduated from Wellsburg High School Class of 1957. She worked for West Liberty College in the snack bar and the student union where she retired from. LaVaughn was a Poll Worker for Brooke County Board of Elections for over 50 years. She was a member of Chapel Hill Christian Church where she served as church treasurer. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Women’s Club of Wheeling, The Red Hat Society, AARP, Church Women United, and she volunteered at the St John Church Food Pantry and Red Cross Blood Drives. LaVaughn is survived by two children, Deborah (Russ) Archey of Wheeling, WV and David (Michele) Coulter of Fort Wayne, IN; a daughter in law, Stephanie Coulter of Brownsville, PA; one sister, Naomi Jean (Ray) Tuite of New Concord, OH; five grandchildren, Allison (Josh) Krumski, Andrew Coulter, David Coulter, Jr., Caitlin (Cole) Kleman, John Coulter; three great grandchildren, Jaxon, Louisa, and Wade; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation for LaVaughn was held on Sunday, January 1, 2023 and again on Monday, January 2, 2023 until the time of the funeral service, with Rev. Dr. Bonnie Thurston officiating, at Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee. Entombment followed privately at Kadesh Chapel Cemetery.
