William Burchill

WILLIAM BURCHILL, 96, of Weirton, WV passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 9, 2023. He was born August 17, 1926, in Weirton, WV, the son of the late John and Daisy Crocker Burchill. Bill was also preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Helen Aftanas Burchill (2021); sisters, Dorothy Hill, Nora Robinson, Peggy Massie; son-in-law, Thomas Koper; sisters-in-law, Anna Selip, Sophie DeAngelo. Bill was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, where he was previously active with the “grounds crew”, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, Weirton Steel Management Club, 25 year club of Weirton Steel Company. He retired from Weirton Steel Corp. as a foreman in the electric department of the sheet mill. Surviving are his daughters, Diane Bond, Gloria Ross (Don), Judie Koper (late Thomas), Vickie Pulice (John), all of Weirton, WV; sons, Richard Burchill of New Manchester, WV, Michael Burchill (Kristen) of Weirton, WV; “Pap” to eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dolores Azzarello of Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, January 13, 2023, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Weirton, with Very Reverend Dennis R. Schuelkens, Jr., VE as celebrant.
