John F. Fish Sr.

JOHN F. FISH SR., 92, of Follansbee, WV, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at his residence under the care of his wife and son with the assistance of Amedisys Hospice. John was born on September 1, 1930 in Follansbee, WV. He was the son of the late Harry K Fish and Lois J. (Blosser) Fish. John served proudly in the United States Army as Private First Class during the Korean War receiving the National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the United Church of God, Wheeling, WV. John retried from the IBEW Steubenville, OH with commercial electrical construction on Power Houses. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his, two siblings, Yvonne Bowen and Williams Fish. John is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 66 years, Valerie (Bane) Fish of Follansbee, WV; four children: John F. Fish Jr. and his wife Valerie of Sylmar, CA, David W. Fish and his wife, Virginia of Bristol, IN, Suzan C. Fish Hewko of Sylmar, CA and Matthew P. Fish of Follansbee; two grandchildren: Elizabeth “Betsy” G. Goddard and her husband, Calvin of Indianapolis, IN and Laurel J. Fish of Sylmar, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be announced and held at the United Church of God, Wheeling, WV with Military Honors. The James Funeral Home of Follansbee, assisted with a private burial at St. John Cemetery Haven of Rest, Colliers, WV.
