Joe Thomas McCready

JOE THOMAS MCCREADY, 77, passed away in Wheeling, WV on February 5, 2023. Joe is survived by his three sons: Mike McCready of Ohio, Dave McCready (Annette) of Florida, and Tom McCready of West Virginia; and his daughter, JoAnn Merson (Randy) of Ohio. Additionally, he has three granddaughters, Danielle McCready (Justin) of Hawaii, Ashley (Tyler) Kenney of Virginia, and Roni VanCamp of West Virginia, as well as a grandson, Shane McCready of Ohio. He is the son of the late Clarence Clay and Pearl Margaret (Scott) Hess McCready. In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his wife Rose Marie McCready, twin brother, Ralph McCready, three half-brothers, and three half-sisters. Joe was born on October 20, 1945, in Wheeling, West Virginia. He graduated from Triadelphia High School, WV, and lived in Bridgeport, Ohio for many years. He married his high school sweetheart 57 years ago on June 12, 1965. Joe was employed at Nickles Bakery and retired after 33 years of service. He worked for nearly 20 years as a home health/hospice aide. He was a member of the Northern Panhandle Amateur Radio Club (NPARC). His Ham OP Call was WB8CTC, previously K8ZNG. Joe, his wife, and his children have been members of the Church of Christ in Wheeling, WV for nearly 50 years. He participated in many activities with his radio club in support of communications at local and regional events. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and a member of Ridge Runners Tri-State Motorcycle Club. He also worked as a park ranger for local scouting camps. Joe loved flying kites, making lasagna, and baking apple dumplings for his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. There are so many people whose lives he touched. He will be truly missed by his family and will forever live on in their hearts and memories. It brings the family comfort to know that Joe has been reunited with his wife in God’s Kingdom for eternity. There will be a memorial service held at the National Road Church of Christ, located at 1310 National Rd, Wheeling, WV at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2023.
