Rule 19A Application to increase water rates and
charges, and request for emergency interim rates
NOTICE OF INTERIM RATE INCREASE
On January 25, 2023, Hammond Public Service District filed with the Public Service Commission of West Virginia an Application to increase its water rates and charges and, during the pendency of the case, requested emergency interim rate relief because the District is experiencing financial distress.
The Staff of the Public Service Commission have performed a preliminary review and recommended an immediate interim increase in rates and charges that will produce approximately $52,817 annually in additional revenue, an overall increase of 8.06%, in order for the District to avoid financial distress. The interim rates are subject to refund if determined not to be justified in a final decision in this matter. The current and interim rates are as follows:

These rates are interim rates only and may be increased, decreased or left unchanged at the conclusion of this case. During the course of this proceeding Commission Staff will recommend final rates for use by the District. Those rates will be published at a later date and may be protested at that time.
