Judith Ann “Judy” Bartley

JUDITH ANN “JUDY” BARTLEY, 81, passed away in her sleep unexpectedly on March 10, 2023was born on December 20, 1941, the only child born to Steve and Helen Chlovechok Takach. Judy grew up in New Cumberland and was a proud graduate of New Cumberland High School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She married Kenneth R Bartley Sr. in 1976. Outside her home, she worked at Hancock County Children’s Home, Hancock County Accessors Office, and was a caretaker for the Wells family in Newell, WV whom she cherished and loved dearly. Simply stated, Judy was a beacon of light for her family, always putting their needs before her own. She cherished many wonderful years with her husband Ken, prior to his passing in May of 2009. Growing up on the family farm, Judith learned the value of hard work and dedication. She carried these qualities with her throughout her life, becoming a respected member of the New Cumberland community. Judy was a member of the New Cumberland City Council, the Democratic Women Club, and the Democratic Executive Committee, where she worked tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of those around her. She also served in Church Women United, where she demonstrated her love for God and her community. In her free time, she could be found walking her dog Pippy on the streets of New Cumberland and down by the river. Judy was a faithful member of Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, where she was an active participant in church activities. She was a past president of the Christian Mothers and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her dedication to her faith and her community was an inspiration to all who knew her. Judy will be remembered for her kindness, her generosity, and her unwavering love for her family and community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, including her son, George “Bink” Gross; her, daughter, Melissa “Missy” Perkins; her grandchildren, Payton Elizabeth Perkins, Kayla Renee and Marlee Lynn Gross; her great grandson, Rowyn Ryder Figlioli; and her Godmother Pauline Balog and special friend/sister, Blanche Tyson. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Judy was laid to rest next to her husband, Ken at Saint Paul’s Cemetery.
