Alma Jane (Woodworth) Haizlett

ALMA JANE (WOODWORTH) HAIZLETT went to meet her Lord on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. She was born July 8, 1933, in Meadville, PA, to Martha and Leon Woodworth, raised on a farm near Cochranton, PA, and graduated from Cochranton High School in 1951. She married Gerald Haizlett (deceased 1998), on August 15, 1952, at Lowry Air Force base, in Denver, CO. She was trained as a nurse, and raised her family in Bradfordwoods, PA, before moving to Grove City, PA. She was a member of Bradfordwoods Community Church and Grove City’s Alliance church before moving to Bethany, WV, to live with family. While in Bethany she attended the Foundery Church. Alma enjoyed, and at times endured, raising four active sons: Bruce, Dan, Jim, and Mike. She relished finally having the female companionship of her daughter’s in law: Linda, Cristina, Jo Ellen, and Barbara. She loved and took great pride in her fourteen grandchildren: Brooke, Brad, Ben, Will, Ellie, Rosalie, Clara, Molly, Jack, Bethany, Lissie, Caleb, Keith and Kent. And eleven great grandchildren: Bailey, Ben, Natalie, Julian, Emily, Remi, Cade, Wesley, Milo, Gracie, and Anna. Alma had the heart of a servant and loved God with all her strength. She was always quick with a card, and had a great sense of humor which she kept to the end. One of her parting statements was “Maybe my hair will come in curly.” She always wished she had curly hair. The family wants to especially acknowledge the loving care and kindness provided in her last days by the nurses and staff of Stonerise Healthcare, and Amedisys Hospice. She was truly loved by the workers as was demonstrated by the tears in the eyes of many when she passed. A memorial service is being planned for Sunday, June 4, in her hometown of Cochranton, PA. Details are being finalized and will be available on her memorial page at chambersandjames.com. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Cornerstone Christian Academy, 300 High Street, Wellsburg, WV 26070.
