Mr. Willis Brooks

MR. WILLIS BROOKS, 78, of Weirton, WV, loving husband, father, and grandfather went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, after a lengthy illness at Sienna Woods in Wintersville. He was born in Okmulgee, OK, on June 24, 1944, one of nine born to Loman and Pauline (Rollinson) Brooks, Sr. After graduation from Fremont High School in Los Angeles, CA, Willis obtained an associate degree in Wood Working. He enlisted in the United States Army on June 30, 1965, proudly serving during the Viet Nam Conflict. He received his training as a Medic at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, before his deployment. Willis was employed for over thirty years at California State University in Los Angeles as a custodian. If you knew Willis, you would have known that he had a wild sense of humor, one that made you laugh and one that was never forgotten. In addition, his kind heart and hard-working demeanor were admired by many. His love for his family, especially his (father and mother-in-law) was a testimony to him and the life he led. A man of faith, he used his baptism into the Baptist Church and the teachings of Christianity to guide his life. Willis enjoyed watching sports and cheering on the LA teams, but when he relocated to West Virginia, he quickly became a Steelers fan, adding to their fan base, along with his wife Leslie. He also found enjoyment in reading, especially novels, but his love for woodworking is evident all throughout their home. He married the love of his life, Leslie Brown, whom he adored, on September 15, 1986, spending almost thirty-seven wonderful years together. She was always there for Willis, making sure he had everything he needed to complete his days. In addition to his parents, Willis was preceded in death by his brothers, Loman, Jr., Steven, Norris, Bernard, and Charles Brooks, and sisters Laurine Howard and Marie Amann. Left behind to cherish his memory with love and complete admiration is his wife Leslie of Weirton, son Michael Butler of Abilene, TX., and daughter Janice Holliday of Birmingham, AL., grandchildren Michael Butler Jr., Brenasia Adream Butler, and brother Robert Brooks, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Burial took place at the convenience of Willis’s family in the Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA. There was no public visitation or service.
