Sandra Lee Hamilton

SANDRA LEE HAMILTON, 78. beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, unexpectedly passed away on May 20, 2023. She was born on April 21, 1945, in Steubenville, Ohio, the youngest of eight children born to Arthur and Leona Huff Tingler. Born with a good heart and a nurturing spirit, Sandy found her greatest joy in taking care of her loved ones. Her family was her world, and she showered them with unwavering love and support. Sandy’s kitchen was a place of warmth and comfort, where she could be found creating culinary delights for her loved ones. Her Christmas cookies, potato salad, and pepperoni rolls were particularly renowned, and her pepperoni rolls became a favorite treat at the Country Mart on Wylie Ridge. In addition to her passion for cooking and baking, Sandy devoted herself to her family and her community. She lovingly cared for her parents, ensuring their well-being and happiness. Sandy’s dedication and selflessness extended beyond her immediate family, as she actively participated in various organizations. She was a valued member of Point Pleasant United Methodist Church and the Oakland District Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Sandy’s beautiful voice graced the sanctuary of the Weirton Heights Free Methodist Church Choir in the past, showcasing her love for music and her commitment to her faith. On March 28, 2023, Sandra experienced the loss of her loving husband, John Mark Hamilton, who was undoubtedly waiting with open arms to welcome her into eternity. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jim, Leo, Jack, and Eugene Tingler, as well as her sisters, Kathryn Curtis, and Norma Richmond. Sandra is survived by her son, Darrin Hamilton, and his wife Janice, as well as her daughter, Kathryn Zapotoczny, and her boyfriend Shannon Almason. She is also survived by her sister, Gloria McConnell, her grandchildren, Andrew, Adam (Kayla), Aaron (Julia), Christa, Cortney (Jordan Hill) and Brandon; her great grandchildren, Gracie, Carter, Madison and Ethan. Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, with funeral services on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton.
