Helen Marie Anderson

HELEN MARIE ANDERSON, 82, of Florence, PA, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023 at home. Helen was born January 15, 1941 in Wallace, WV, daughter of the late Ira and Vallie Marie Hurst Goldsmith. She was also preceded in death by brother, Wayne Edward Goldsmith; sister, Virginia Jenny Crislip; and brother-in-law, Roy Loudin Fleming. Helen was a member of Smith Baptist Church in Wallace, WV, where she had married her husband, James “Jim” Kenneth Anderson in 1965. Helen loved listening to music; especially country. One day, when watching someone play an upright bass, she said to her husband, “I bet I can play that.” Soon enough, she purchased one and started playing alongside her husband’s guitar. Every Wednesday night, she and Jim joined their friends on Frankfort Road in New Manchester to play music. When they formed a band, it was naturally called the Frankfort Road Band. They had many jam sessions throughout the years in New Manchester, New Cumberland, Paris and elsewhere. Helen loved to invite various musicians to play alongside them. Helen is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, James “Jim” Anderson; daughters, Karen Marie Boustead (Kevin Scott Boustead) of Lancaster, PA and Sharon Lynn Bracken of Washington, PA; grandchildren, Jennifer Marie Boustead, James Michael Boustead, Paul Robert Lynch, Amanda Bracken and John Bracken; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Doris JoAn Fleming; and sister-in-law, Willma Jean Goldsmith. Visitation was held Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Weirton, where the funeral took place Monday, June 5, 2023, with Pastor Karen Jacobs presiding.
