Paul J. Christian

PAUL J. CHRISTIAN, 98, of Weirton, WV passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023, at home under the care of Valley Hospice, Inc. He was born August 7, 1924, in Rosemont, WV, the son of the late Frank Arthur Christian and Getty Amanda Bailey Christian. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Elva Russell Christian (2006); son, Christopher A. Christian (2013); brother, Frank Michael Christian. Paul was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church; a World War II United States Army Air Corp veteran. He was honored in 2021 by the Weirton City Council as being the oldest living World War II veteran in Weirton; member of American Legion Post No.10; retired from RCA as a television repairman. Paul loved auctions. He was a “great collector of stuff”. He was a published prolific poet. He graduated cum laude from Alderson Broaddus College. Surviving is his daughter, Paula Haggerty (Ron); sister, Betty Patrica Marks; six grandchildren, J Keeder (Miranda), Kristen Fanarakis, Stacy Higginbotham (Tim), Belinda Haggerty, Ronnie Haggerty, Tracy Haggerty; great granddaughter, Jordan Keeder.; several nieces and nephews. Grateful appreciation is extended to Paul’s special caregivers, David and Lisa Renner, as well as to his nurse, Stephanie, from Valley Hospice, Inc. Visitation was held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Weirton, where the funeral will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 12 p.m., with Pastor Carol McKay presiding, followed by interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
