MARIE W. MELVIN, 88, of Weirton, WV passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at home. She was born November 18, 1934, in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of the late Howard Otto Ransom and Marie Barbara Veverka Ransom. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, James Norcia and Donald “Ducky” J. Melvin (1994); daughter, Mary Anne Hood; sons, James Norcia, Robert Melvin; sister, Katherine Rutherford; brother, Howard “Bud” Ransom. Marie was an active member of Mercy Baptist Church where she had been involved with the ladies group. She was very involved with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a “rock” of support for her family. Marie was also very supportive of her late husband’s businesses. Surviving are her daughters, Katherine Jones (Timothy), Carolyn Norcia, Geri Gibbs (late Rick), Sandra Lee Melvin; son, Richard Melvin (Linda C.); brother, David Ransom (Donna); brother-in-law, John Melvin (Karen); 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren. Visitation was held Thursday, June 15, 2023 until the time of the funeral services, at Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Weirton, with Pastor Marlin Hawley presiding.
