LARRY JOSEPH LIBERTO, SR., 83, of Weirton, WV passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Weirton Medical Center. He was born July 4, 1940, in Weirton, WV. the son of the late Sam and Josephine LoPresti Liberto. He was also preceded in death by his brother, John Liberto. Larry was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church; D.P. Murphy Council No.3734 Knights of Columbus, where he also played on the Apollo bocce ball team. He was an avid golfer as well as a manicurist of the finest hedges in Weirton … as acknowledged in a past publication of the Weirton Daily Times. He retired from the Hancock County Board of Education as principal of Weir Middle School. His 30 year career included that of being a teacher and also a principal for many years at Weir High School. Surviving is his wife of 57 years, JoAnn Miceli Liberto; daughter, Michelle Mathews (Russell) of Morgantown, WV; son, Larry J. Liberto, Jr. (Linda) of Weirton, WV; his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Kyra Mathews, Joseph Mathews, Lorenzo Liberto, Luciano Liberto; sisters, Mathia Holsinger, Frances Milano. Visitation was held Tuesday, July 11, 2023 until the time of the Mass of Christian burial, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Weirton, with Reverend Tony Thurston as celebrant. Entombment followed at St. Paul Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Weirton.
