MILDRED JEAN MITCHELL, 70, a lifelong resident of Follansbee, WV died peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2023, at Brightwood Center in Follansbee. Mildred was born on August 30, 1952, in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of the late Harry Ray and Evelyn (McKinney) Mitchell, Jr. In addition to her parents Mildred is preceded in death by a one sister, Margaret (Will) Malinoski; a brother, Harold Mitchell; two nieces, Melissa Mitchell and Danielle Strope; and a nephew, Owen James Mitchell. Mildred graduated from Brooke High School in 1972. She was the assistant manager at McDonald’s in Follansbee when it first opened and was also owner and operator of her family restaurant Mitchell’s Family Restaurant and Catering. Mildred was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and Ladies of the Moose. Mildred is survived by one sister, Sandy (Jim) Shorts of Louise, WV; four nephews, Harry R. Mitchell III of Mingo Junction, OH, Jimmy (Margaret) Shorts of Louise, WV, Wayne Malinoski of Follansbee, WV and Andy Malinoski of Charleston, WV; one great nephew; two great nieces; one great-great niece; and several cousins. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023, from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m., with Pastor Tim Colvin officiating, at Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
