The Brooke County Sheriff’s Office has arrested William “Billy” DeWall on Monday, July 24.
DeWall was facing multiple felony warrants through magistrate court, stemming from two vehicle thefts in the McKinleyville area. A community tip led officers to discover him hiding in a Follansbee residence.
“It was a community tip that came across my desk and we followed up on it and, sure enough, we caught him there in the house,” Beatty said. “He’s been apprehended, and he is currently being incarcerated at the regional jail in Moundsville.”
Beatty said this case showcases the power and importance of community, and he credits those in the area for stepping up and reporting the incident to police. DeWall is facing charges in those two vehicle thefts and, according to police, also threatened victims and police.
