Bethany College Appoints New Director of Residence Life

Bethany College has announced Erica Claybrook-Cookman as the new director of residence life. Bringing a wealth of experience and expertise in higher education and student affairs, Claybrook-Cookman is poised to lead our vibrant residence life community with unwavering dedication and passion.
Claybrook-Cookman earned her M.S. in education from California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). Prior to that, she earned her B.A. in comparative ethnic studies from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (CPSLO). With a rich background in student development and residential education, Claybrook-Cookman has excelled in various roles within the department of residence life at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC). As the director of residential education at UMC, she oversaw all departmental functions, including housing operations, staff selection and training, crisis response, and policy management.
“I’m delighted to welcome Erica Claybrook-Cookman as Bethany College’s new director of residence life,” says Bethany President Dr. Jamie Caridi. “Her passion for empowering students makes her an invaluable addition to our team. Her dedication to fostering an inclusive environment aligns perfectly with our commitment to inspiring students and creating opportunities for all students to excel.”
As director of residence life, Claybrook-Cookman will play a pivotal role in enhancing the residential experience and ensuring a positive living environment for all students. Her extensive experience in crisis management, student conduct, and programming, coupled with her dedication to community engagement, will undoubtedly benefit the entire Bethany College community.

Throughout her journey in higher education, Claybrook-Cookman has continually championed the cause of empowerment and inclusivity. As a freelance career consultant, she has provided resume and career advisement workshops, matched clients with professional development opportunities, and supported them during their job-seeking process.
