WILLIAM “TWIG” WATSON, 67, of Wellsburg, WV died peacefully on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Weirton Medical Center. He was born on October 15, 1955, in Wheeling, WV, and lived and raised in Beech Bottom, WV. Twig was the son of the late William Howard and Patricia (Klingensmith) Watson. Twig was a 1973 graduate from Brooke High School and Vale Technical Institute in Blairsville, PA, and he earned numerous certifications throughout his career. Twig worked for Welty Buick and Bob Robinson as an auto body technician and assistant manager. He was Baptist by faith and a member of the Peachtree Baptist Church being an involved member who loved and served our heavenly father. Twig was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. He always had a smile and a good word to everyone he met. He dearly loved his family, especially his grandson Nathen. Twig loved sports, especially the Steelers, Penguins and he loved Nascar, and going to the races. He loved people and liked to feel he could make a difference somehow. He spent much of his life in public service. He was a past Mayor of Beech Bottom and served city council for over 30 years. He also served on the waterboard and helped oversee and plan the Beech Bottom water and sewage project of the 90’s and eventually ended up serving on the B.C.P.S.D. William is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Sharon (Finsley) Watson at home; two daughters, Adrian (Chad) McLendon of Macon, GA and Leesa (Nathen) Miller of Follansbee, WV; one sister, Gale Watson of Swainsboro, GA; three grandchildren, Nathen, Jr., Haley, and Natalie Miller. Visitation was held on Thursday, September 7, 2023 and again on Friday, September 8, 2023 until the time of the funeral service, with Pastor Tim Colvin officiating, at Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee. Inurnment was held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Rd. Dallas, TX 75231.
