Hilda Mae (Phelps) Grimsley

HILDA MAE (PHELPS) GRIMSLEY, 76, of Weirton, WV, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023 at Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital, Wheeling, WV under the care of the staff with the assistance of Amedisys Hospice. Hilda was born on May 28, 1947 in Frederick MD. She was the daughter of the late Lewis Edward Phelps and Lois (Trail) Phelps. Hilda worked as a bookkeeper Chiropractic Office for 12 years and in an Auto Repair Shop for 15 years until her retirement. Many will remember Hilda for her love of going to the Casino and playing Bingo; but most of all, her fun and outgoing personality. In addition to her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, John Charles Grimsley and two sisters, Sandra Bohnke and an infant sister. Hilda is survived by her son, Bennette “Benny” Lyle and his spouse, Kim of Follansbee, WV; three siblings: George Phelps of North Carolina, Rose Spertzel of Texa,s and Paula Clements of Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews. The James Funeral Home of Follansbee, was honored and privileged to serve the Grimsley Family with a simple cremation.
