William A. “Bill” Horstman

WILLIAM A. “BILL” HORSTMAN, 85, of Weirton, WV passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Weirton Medical Center. He was born January 29, 1938 in Paris, PA, son of the late William Henry Horstman and Marie Garrison Horstman. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Glenna M. “Toot” Horstman (January 2023); sisters, Aileen Cameron, Lou Fox and Nita Potts. Bill was a member of the Pleasant Valley Country Club where he spent many days on the course with his golf buddies. Bill also was on a bowling team for many years at Steel Valley Lanes. He retired from Weirton Steel Corporation as a clerk in the Strip Steel and a member of the WSX 25-Year Club. Bill was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan. From his first Pirates game at 8 years old, he loved watching his team, even during the rough years. His love for sports only grew when his grandchildren began playing. He never missed a game. Bill coached little league and termite league baseball and even helped with construction of the building at Kings Creek Ballfield. He loved Weir High Football and Basketball games. He was even awarded Fan of the Year for Weir High Basketball. Bill is survived by his daughter, Janna Watson of Florida; sons, Jim Horstman (Cathy) of Weirton and Thomas Horstman of Wintersville; grandchildren, Jacob, Justin, Jonathan, Troy, Rachael, and Brandt; brother, Dick Horstman of Paris; and sister, Ruth Ann Fliermans of Augusta, GA. Visitation was held Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home, Weirton, where the funeral will take place Friday, September 22, 2023, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Carol McKay presiding.
