June Montgomery Booher

JUNE MONTGOMERY BOOHER, 91, of Dublin, OH, formerly of Wellsburg, WV, died peacefully on October 20, 2023. She was the only child of Thomas Montgomery and Florence Quell Montgomery and was born on June 10, 1932 in Westfield, New Jersey. She was a graduate of Westfield High School and Bethany College in Bethany, WV, receiving a B.A. in Elementary Education in 1954. It was at Bethany that she met and married her husband Dr. William Thurlow Booher, Jr (“Bill”). June taught elementary school in Morgantown, WV and Richmond, VA while Bill was attending medical school in those cities. Following Bill’s graduation from Medical school, they returned to Wellsburg, WV where they spent the remainder of their married life together and raised their four children. June was involved in many activities and civic organizations during her years in Wellsburg, including serving as Chairwoman of the Wellsburg Planning Commission, President of the Wellsburg Garden Club, a Deacon and a Trustee of the First Presbyterian Church, Treasurer of the Brooke County Library Foundation and a member of the Bethany College Alumni Council. After her move to Dublin, Ohio June became a member of Jerome United Methodist Church and PEO Chapter N. June was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bill. She is survived by four children: Tom Booher and Elizabeth Harris, of San Francisco, CA, Gail Lambie and husband Don, of Dublin, OH, Karen Strecker and husband Brent, of Kennewick, WA and Lisa Lutz and husband Keith, of Kirtland, OH. In addition to her children, she was blessed with 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: Jason Lambie and family Jess, Grayson and Elsie; Ryan and Fazileh Lambie; Allyssa Lambie Schumacher and family Ben, Cole and Sadie; Katharine Booher Meier and family Mason and Parker; Alex Booher; Sarah Booher; Carly Strecker Wilder and family Will and June; Jessi Strecker Luoma and family Colin and Van; and Keegan, Koary, Kyle and Lauren Lutz. June loved gardening, reading, traveling and, most of all, spending time with her wonderful family and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m., with Pastor Frank Haas officiating, at Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee. Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg. In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to send any memorial contributions to the Booher Children’s Library at the Brooke County Library, Wellsburg, WV, or The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
