West Liberty Basketball Alumni and Friends Gather for Unforgettable Weekend Celebration

The West Liberty Basketball Alumni and Friends came together for an extraordinary weekend celebration on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Oglebay Park. The event reunited former players, friends, and supporters in a night filled with reminiscence and camaraderie. The weekend also included Hilltopper football at West Family Stadium as West Liberty took on Notre Dame (Ohio) and a lunch at Carlito’s Soul Kitchen owned and operated by alumni, Jeramie Alvarado.
Lynn Ramage ‘86, a former West Liberty athlete, coordinated this successful weekend. “It was a good time to reunite with the legends of the past at the Basketball reunion. Teams from different eras came out to have fun and reminisce about their playing times on the Hill,” stated Lynn. “We had an opportunity to meet our new President and look forward to working with everyone in the future. We have BIG plans in the works for next year.”
Friday night kicked off the festivities, sparking an overwhelming sense of happiness as attendees from various walks of life joined the reunion. The event welcomed distinguished figures, including Dr. Campbell and Dean Harrar, both instrumental in shaping the lives of those present. Their presence added a special touch to the evening, evoking memories of shared experiences and impactful mentorship.
The gathering included the attendance of Dr. Tim Borchers, President of West Liberty University, “I enjoyed the opportunity to meet with the former players, coaches, and managers,” said Dr. Borchers. “It’s clear they have strong ties to West Liberty and they fondly recalled favorite faculty or staff members. I was honored to be included in the event.”
