Holmes and Watson Return to Cloak and Dagger On the Air

This Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, the internationally known detectives Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson return to Cloak and Dagger On the Air with a brand-new adaptation of fan-favorite story, “The Adventure of Silver Blaze,” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
The production will coincide with Weirton’s Christmas on Main Street festival.
Beginning at 3:30 p.m. with R.J. Gaudio, Troubadour, providing a warm-up acoustic set, Cloak and Dagger On the Air: The Memoirs of Holmes and Watson will start at 4 p.m. at Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau, located at 3539 Main St., Weirton (across from Ferguson Tire Pros).
“We’re excited to be performing during Christmas on Main Street,” Pete Fernbaugh, artistic director and head writer for The Ohio Valley Cloak & Dagger Company, said. “We hope folks attending the festival stop by to see what our show is all about, especially if they haven’t been able to make one of our previous performances.”
The 90-minute production will run straight through, leaving enough time before and after for people to enjoy the festival and the evening’s fireworks.
“‘The Adventure of Silver Blaze,’ which involves the disappearance of a thoroughbred racehorse and the murder of his trainer, is best-known for originating the phrase, ‘The curious incident of the dog in the night-time.’ It’s the clue that helps Holmes solve the case and later inspired the title of an award-winning novel and play that was recently performed by the West Liberty Hilltop Players,” Fernbaugh said.
Cloak and Dagger On the Air: The Memoirs of Holmes and Watson will also feature two original Christmas offerings to match the festival’s theme: Daphne Doolittle, The Dame with the Private Eye, in “The Case of the Satanic Santa” and Wee Nellie Netter and the Christmas Angel.
“Comedy, drama, and seasonal sentiment will all be a hallmark of Saturday’s show, pun possibly intended,” Fernbaugh said. “Our cast features some of the area’s best performers; we hope people stop by to see the show and end up staying for the whole run.”
Cloak and Dagger On the Air: The Memoirs of Holmes and Watson stars The Wayward Saints: Rob DeSantis, Bethany Fernbaugh, David Gaudio, Robert J. Gaudio, Noah Hilton, Karissa Martin, Clare McDonald, Ralph Parissi, Abby Perry, Terri Perry, Maura Danielle Reiff, John E. Reilly, and George Spelvin, with Roberta Fedoush providing the score and The Holy Foley Molies creating the sound effects.
Admission to Cloak and Dagger On the Air: The Memoirs of Holmes and Watson is free, although donations to help cover production costs are always appreciated. Light refreshments and water will be available.
As mentioned, doors open at 3:30 p.m. with live music by R.J. Gaudio, Troubadour, who will perform pop, rock, and folk music favorites. The program will also livestream from The Ohio Valley Cloak and Dagger Company Facebook page starting at 3:30 p.m.
Because of Christmas on Main Street, parking may be more of a challenge than usual. Fernbaugh urges attendees to give themselves extra time to find a space, since the lot behind Top of WV fills up quickly on festival days.
Individuals with mobility impairments may more easily enter through the building’s front entrance. Members of the troupe are happy to assist these individuals.
