With their two children the family moved to Weirton, WV, in the 1950s where she worked as an RN at the Ohio Valley Hospital in Steubenville, OH, for many years. She was an active member of the Eastern Star fraternal organization and the First Methodist Church of Weirton. After Fred, Jr. died at home in 1979, Maxine married Lamont Blair, Sr., and the couple relocated to Murrells Inlet, SC, in the early 1980s. Maxine worked part-time at Georgetown Memorial Hospital and worked in the local nursing home field until she began taking care of her mother who had also moved to the Inlet. Both Maxine and her mother were active members of Belin Methodist Church, Murrells Inlet. Lamont passed away on March 4, 1983, and shortly afterwards Maxine’s daughter and granddaughter moved to Murrells Inlet from San Diego, CA.
