Charles Wayne Buxton

CHARLES WAYNE BUXTON, 78, of Wellsburg, WV died peacefully on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Golden Oaks Residential Board and Care. Born on January 27, 1945 in Independence, PA a son of the late James and Florence Isabelle (Robison) Buxton. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two sisters, Norma Haddon and Lois Mozingo, and his father and mother-in-law, Chick and Betty Isinghood. Wayne graduated from Avella High School in 1963. He went on to serve in the Army during Vietnam at Fort Hood in Texas. Wayne retired from Arcelor Mittal Steel Corporation after 44 years as a shipper in the strip steel division. He also served as a Union Steward for many years. Wayne was active in many organizations, among them the Strip Steel Employees Federal Credit Union where he worked his way up to be President for 3 terms and at the end was Chief Financial Officer for over 53 years involvement, he was a founding member of the Brooke County Animal Advocates, a little league and pony league coach having coached both of his sons. He called Brooke Hills Park a part of his home having served on the Park Board for over 10 years. In his spare time he enjoyed watching all Pittsburgh sports teams. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Janet (Isinghood) Buxton; two sons, Scott (Annette) and Todd Buxton; three grandchildren: Madison Buxton, Krew Buxton, and Knox Buxton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A private graveside service was held on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg. Arrangements were entrusted by the Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee.
