CYNTHIA KOSTKA REVAY, 71, of Weirton, WV, known affectionately as Cindi, passed away on December 24, 2023. She was born on January 13, 1952, to Anthony Stanislaus and Mary B. Wojdyla Kostka, and grew up alongside her siblings, Marion P. “Mun” Kostka and Barbara “Toni” Traeger. Cindi graduated from Weirton Madonna High School in 1970, leaving a mark as a member of the homecoming court and earning the title of Ms. Teenage Weirton in the same year. Her passion for caring for others led her to pursue a nursing degree at West Liberty State College, a career she dedicated 25 years to at Weirton Medical Center before her retirement. Love found Cindi in the most unexpected places. Although she and her husband Joe both attended Madonna High School, their paths truly crossed when he served as an E.M.T./paramedic with WAARS, and Cindi, a nurse, worked in the Emergency Room. Their connection deepened, and they found themselves at a Halloween Party, at the Weirton Vol Fire Dept Co. 1, marking the beginning of a beautiful journey together. Cindi and Joe eventually tied the knot on October 12, 1984, after falling in love by learning how to ballroom dance. Cindi’s radiant personality made her an angel on Earth, known for her generosity, empathy, and kindness towards others. Her effervescent spirit brought out the best in people, and she had a knack for keeping the US Postal Service busy with the multitude of cards she sent to friends and family. Always smiling, friendly, and outgoing, Cindi made a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know her. Her love for life extended to her favorite pastimes, including “glamping” with Joe along the shores of Lake Erie. She found solace in retail therapy, frequently exploring TJ Maxx for gifts to shower upon her loved ones. Cindi and Joe shared a deep faith and were active members of Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, where they joyfully participated in the church choir, expressing their devotion through song and prayer. In addition to her parents, Cindi was preceded in death by her brother Marion P. “Mun” Kostka, her sister, Barbara “Toni”, and brother-in-law Richard Traeger. Cindi is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Revay, her daughter Nicole (Kevin) Leinweber, stepson David (Leah) Revay, grandchildren Blaise Leinweber and Jari Revay, as well as numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law Penny Kostka, and her friends that she loved dearly, as if they were family. Due to the inability for her family to travel at this time, a private blessing will be held at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home and Cindi was laid to rest at Saint Paul’s Cemetery. Fr. Binu Sebastian presided. Cindi’s family plans to have a Mass in her memory in the Summer of 2024, followed by a celebration of her life.
