MARY GALLIAS, 86, of Weirton, WV fell asleep in the Lord on Friday, January 5, 2024. Daughter of the late Nick and Liberty (Proakis) Papoulas, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of forty-six years, James Gallias, and her grandson, Andrew Monroe. Mary will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, Yiayia, and great Yiayia. She dedicated her life to her family and All Saints Greek Orthodox Church where she volunteered as choir director and organist and worked with baking for the church’s festivals and projects. Everyone was her ‘koukla.” She was a member of the All-Saints Philoptochos; former leader of the Camp Fire Horizon Girls; All Saints Senior Citizens; Agia Markella Chian Society; and a volunteer for many years with the Weirton General Hospital and Weirton Medical Center Auxiliary. She was also a secretary at the Public Relations Department and the Weirton Steel Bulletin office. Surviving are her two lovely daughters, Stacey (Sam) Monroe of Sarasota, FL., and Liberty (Michael) Crossetti of Charleston, SC., and Her pride and joy grandchildren, Lt Colonel Eric (Kristi) Giannaris of Dumfries, VA., Aaron (Morgan) Giannaris of Palmetto, FL., Brittany (Kyle) Freshwater of Severn, MD., Sierra (JJ) Beach of Lexington, KY., Great-grandchildren, Emm Lee, Ana Lee, Olivia Claire, and Ethan Drew Giannaris. Friends were received at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton, on Monday, January 8, 2024, where a Trisagion Service was also celebrated. Additional viewing was held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 until the time of her service, at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Weirton, with Fr. Matthew Moore officiating.
