WILLIAM “BILL” DOUGLAS MOORE, 72, of Follansbee, WV passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024, at the Sam Swope Care Center at Masonic Homes, Louisville, KY after a nearly 10-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. He fought courageously against the disease each and every day. William was born on June 5, 1951 in Steubenville, OH. He was the son of the late Charles Edward Moore and Yvonne Dorrance Morrison (Moore) Stacy. He met and fell in love with Joyce Ann Homono, and they married on September 8, 1973. They recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. To anyone who knew them, they were the picture of a perfect couple and did everything together. William served his country proudly in the United States Marines Corp as a Private First Class. He was a loyal employee at Weirton Steel, where he worked as an electrician for over 40 years. He was an active member of the Hooverson Heights Church of Christ. William is known to his family as a devoted husband, father, pappy, and Harley Davidson enthusiast. Many will remember him for his dedication to the Follansbee Blue Waves football organization, driving the carpool to dance class, and his love for cutting grass, tending to his pool, and working in his garage. William is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Ann (Homono) Moore; four children: Michele Lynn-Moore Myauo (Ting) of Vienna, VA, Brian Alexander Moore (Betsy) of Washington, PA, Aimee Marie (Moore) Giammittorio (David) of Pearland, TX, and Carrie Ann Moore Skaff (Adam) of Prospect, KY; and six (soon to be seven) grandchildren: Madilyn, Juliana, Wyatt, Vera, Brooks, and William, who endearingly call him “Pappy.” Family and friends were received on Thursday, January 18, 2024 and again on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m., at James Funeral Home, Follansbee. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Follansbee, with Military Honors by his comrades of the United States Marine Corp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in William’s name to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
