MICHAEL J. DiBACCO, 88, of Weirton, WV passed away peacefully on January 14, 2024 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Mike was born on December 17th, 1935 in Hanlin Station, PA. The son of Michele and Liberata (Gaffoli) DiBacco, he was the youngest of 14 children. He was preceded in death by brothers Louis, John, Antonio, Sam and sisters Mary, Agnes, Norma, Amelia, Grace, Angeline, Edna, Josephine, Rose along with many nieces and nephews. He graduated from Union High School in Burgettstown, PA and was a veteran of the Marine Corps having served at Camp Lejeune, NC. He was employed by Weirton Steel with 38+ years of service. He married Carol Jean (Mis) on April 17, 1958; she preceded him in death on October 7, 2016. Together they have four children who survive: Carrie Hardsouk, Steven (Lynne) DiBacco, John (Carol) DiBacco, and Karl (Stacy) DiBacco. Lovingly called Pap, Mike leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Emily (Douglas) Foster, Andrew (Laura) Hardsouk, Douglas (Page) Hardsouk, Sarah (Mason) Barnhart, Chelsey and Micah DiBacco, Haley (Joe) Craft, Caitlyn DiBacco, Karly (Luke) Ross, and Jay DiBacco. He was Pap Pap to 11 great grandchildren: Alaya, Bentley, Jack, Cooper, Georgie, Rylee, Everlee, Mila, Archer, Samuel, and Baby B due in June. also surviving are sisters-in-law: Helen (George) Hvizdos, Stefana Iannetti, and Vonice (Russel) Carr along with many nieces and nephews, caregivers and friends Ron Ayers and Chris Fanase. When his sons were young, Mike coached baseball for the Weirton Termites. He then enjoyed rooting for his grandchildren on the sidelines of all sports and was proud of all their accomplishments. Michael loved being surrounded by family- especially on spaghetti Sundays. In the summer, he looked forward to warm weather and spending time on his deck with an ice cold bud light and his grand-dogs by his side. The family is at peace knowing that Mom and Dad are reunited for eternity. Visitation was held Friday, January 19, 2024, at Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home, Weirton, where the funeral took place Saturday, January 20, 2024, with Reverend Harry Bielewicz presiding.
