RALPH EUGENE NICHOLSON, 85, of Wellsburg, WV died peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2024, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on August 14, 1938, in Bethany, WV, a son of the late George W. and Rhoda Jane (Ghoff) Nicholson. In addition to his parents, Ralph is preceded in death by six brothers, Ed, John, Jack, Henry, Joseph, and Roy Nicholson; two sisters, Willetta Forrester and Betty Claypool; and a son-in-law, John Henry. Ralph was a member of the Church of God in Bethany, WV. He worked at Valley Camp as a coal mine operator and retired from the City of Wellsburg where he worked for the street department. He enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. Ralph is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Patricia (Mitchell) Nicholson at home; five children: Willetta (Dexter) Taylor of Thomasville, NC, Bernice Henry, Bonnie (Mark) Wilson, Melody (Doug) Rowan of all of Wellsburg, WV, and Ralph (Mary) Nicholson of Colliers, WV; one brother, Daniel (Tracy) Nicholson of Beech Bottom, WV; one sister, Rebecca Pain of MD; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 until the time of the funeral service, with Pastor James Seabright officiating, at Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee. Interment followed at Kadesh Chapel Cemetery, Beech Bottom.
