WANDA FAYE RECHT, 79, of Weirton, WV, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024. She was born on January 5, 1945, in the family’s home in Bartleyville, PA, one of seven children born to Robert and Evelyn Tustin Thompson. Wanda graduated from Union High School in 1962. Many people will remember her as the manager of Mickey’s Market in Weirton for 15 years. In 1992, Wanda found love once again when she married Milton “Mickey” Recht. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with joy, playing golf, and exploring the world through travel in the United States and overseas. Their happiness was a testament to their love, which sadly came to an end with Mickey’s passing in 2008. Wanda faced the pains of life with resilience, having experienced the loss of her son, Richard Robert Yobbagy, and her brother, Robert “Sonny” Thompson, who passed away at the tender age of six months. Despite these challenges, Wanda continued to find solace in her passions. She took pleasure in reading during her free time. Known for her spunky personality and unapologetically independent mind, Wanda Faye Recht was never one to hold back her thoughts. She would never say something behind your back, that she would not say to your face. Wanda is survived by her son, Jay Yobbagy, sisters, Donna Ford (Jerry), Alda Malone (Randy), Vickie Santek, Debbie Stump (Rick), and Andrea Callahan. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Richard Yobbagy, Jr., and Carson and Maya Yobbagy. She is also survived by Mickey’s children and grandchildren. Family and friends gathered on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
