The City of Weirton will receive a $14 million loan from the West Virginia Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council.
The funds will be used to increase the capacity of the city’s water treatment plant.
They are part of $25.9 in funding for sewer and water projects around the state announced last week. Along with funds from congressionally directed spending and matching funds, they will provide $42.1 million for Weirton’s project.
The WV IJDC was created by the West Virginia Legislature in 1994 to serve as a funding clearinghouse for water and wastewater projects around the state.
