Diane Rose Hawkinberry

DIANE ROSE HAWKINBERRY, a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, and puppy grandmother, passed away on March 8, 2024, surrounded by her family at the Brightwood Center in Follansbee, WV. Born on April 4, 1951, in Follansbee, WV, Diane was a daughter of the late Milford and Elizabeth Rigo Perrin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Michael Joseph Hawkinberry, on March 6, 2015. Diane dedicated her life to her family and her passions, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. In addition to her pivotal role as a homemaker, Diane was a tireless advocate for domestic violence issues, demonstrating her commitment to helping those in need and making a difference in her community. Her passion for social justice extended beyond advocacy as she worked for CHANGE, utilizing her skills and knowledge to contribute positively to the causes closest to her heart. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Psychology, as well as certification as a Paralegal, Diane was a dedicated lifelong learner who continuously sought knowledge and growth in all aspects of her life. She approached every endeavor with a genuine passion. Diane’s love for golfing and bowling brought her closer to her family, creating lasting memories and shared experiences. Owning a craft store for many years, she shared her creativity and passion for crafting with the community, leaving a legacy that will be remembered by all those who frequented her shop. Family time was precious to Diane, and she treasured every moment spent with her loved ones. Diane’s legacy of love, dedication, and unwavering compassion will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind a son, Brent Michael “Hawk” Hawkinberry, and his wife Rose of Weirton; daughter Erin Rose Hawkinberry also of Weirton; sister, Sandra J. Smith of Follansbee; and 2 Kitty-kids, Marley and Mila; and 3 grand-puppies, Dexter, Butchy, and Brutus. Private cremation services took place at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home’s on-site crematory, Weirton. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of her family.
