James “Honey” Meca

JAMES “HONEY” MECA, 90, of Follansbee, WV passed away March 20, 2024 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born September 3, 1933 in Follansbee, WV to the late James and Louise Marocco Meca Sr. James retired from Conrail Railroad as a Freight Coordinator and was a long-time member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, a member of the Cedar Lodge, and the Theta Chi Alpha. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Nina Belle Blosser Meca who passed March 5, 2023, two brothers, Geno Meca and Joseph Meca, and two sisters Rose Mecca Ferguson and Stella Penella. He is survived by his son, Steve Meca (Pam), and two daughters, Michalene “Mickie” Diserio and Michelle Meca all of Follansbee, WV; three grandchildren: Megan Pietro (Brian) of New Cumberland, WV, Margo (Jimmy) Scherich of Weirton, WV, and Molly Diserio of New Brunswick, NJ; seven great grandchildren: Anthony, Dominic, Luca, Olive, Lola, Violet, and Gianna; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation was held on Monday, March 25, 2024 and again on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Reasner Funeral Home, Wellsburg, until the time of the Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Gerald Muoka as Celebrant. Interment followed at Oak Grove Cemetery, Follansbee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to CORE, 204 Sigma Drive, RIDC Park, Pittsburgh, PA 15238.
