BHP Announces Auditions

Brooke Hills Playhouse announces auditions will be held for the first three shows in the 53rd season on Saturday, April 6, at the Brooke Hills Park Clubhouse. Anyone interested in performing in local theater is welcome to audition.
“The Kitchen Witches” is a comedy requiring 2 women and 2 men in the 20s to 50s age range. The plot revolves around Dolly and Isobel who have known each other for 30 years, are both cooks, are in the same TV show, but cannot stand each other. Dolly’s son, Stephen, is the show’s producer, and he has his hands full getting production underway. Rob the camera guy completes the cast. Performance dates are May 24-26 and May 31-June 2. Chelsey Barnhart is directing this show with auditions beginning at 10 a.m.
At 11 a.m. auditions for “Don’t Dress for Dinner” will be held. Three women and three men are needed in the cast with ages 20s-50s. Bernard is planning a romantic weekend with his chic Parisian mistress in his charming converted French farmhouse, while his wife, Jacqueline, is away. He has arranged for a cordon bleu cook to prepare gourmet delights, and has invited his best friend, Robert, along, too, to provide the alibi. Niccole Welch and Carrie Cronin are directing this show. Performance dates are June 14-16 and 21-23.
For the first two shows, actors will be asked to do a cold reading from the script.
The third show, “Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical,” will begin auditions at noon. A cast of 21 or more performers is needed. Included are Matilda Wormwood, female, age 6-10, an imaginative girl who is clever and wise; Miss Agatha Trunchbull, female, age 35-55, the tyrannical headmistress; Miss Honey, female, age 25-40, Matilda’s kindhearted teacher; Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood, ages 35-45, Matilda’s uncaring parents; Michael Wormwood, male, age 10-15, Matilda’s brother; Bruce, male, age 7-14, a classmate; Lavender, female, age 7-10, Matilda’s friend; Mrs. Phelps, female, age 25-45, the kindly librarian; Escapologist, male, a character of Matilda’s creation; Acrobat, female, a product of Matilda’s imagination; Rudolfo, male, Mrs. Wormwood’s ballroom dance partner; Doctor, male, Mrs. Wormwood’s doctor, Children’s entertainer, male, a party entertainer.
Ensemble roles include henchmen, kids, and parents.
Director Emily Hores advises that everyone should come prepared with a song with a background track. All will read from a script. Callbacks may need to be scheduled. Performance dates are July 5-7 and 12-14.
