Lawrence M. “Larry” Freeman, Sr.

LAWRENCE M. “LARRY” FREEMAN, SR., 81, of Wellsburg, WV died peacefully on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, at Gables Care Center in Hopedale, OH. Born on November 7, 1942, in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late John A. and Helen Virginia (Cragle) Freeman. In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by the love of his life his wife Carolyn (Kirchner) Freeman and his niece Brucina Freeman. Larry graduated from Steubenville Catholic Central in 1960 and then from Steubenville College in 1966 with his B.A. in Business Management and Business Administration. He worked for over 30 years as a Superintendent at Kopper’s Industries in Follansbee, WV. Larry and Carolyn were members of the Franklin United Methodist Church for many years. They also enjoyed many years of membership with friends at the Wellsburg Moose Lodge #1564 in Wellsburg, WV. He was an avid sports fan, whether it be the Steelers or WVU he always talked about what the field was like. He always thought the field gave an advantage. He is survived by three children: Lisa Marie Marker and husband, Ryan of Annapolis, OH, Larry Freeman and wife, Robin of Indiana, and Danny Freeman of Arkansas; two brothers, Blaine Freeman and wife, Bonnie, and John “Jack” Freeman and wife, Barb; two sisters, Nancy Dorsey and Becky Pfouts; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, among them Karen and Chipper Kirchner who cared for him for many years. Visitation for Larry was held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 and again on Thursday, April 4, 2024 until the time of funeral services at Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee, with Rev. Jeremiah Kuttler officiating. There was a Loyal Order of the Moose Service on Wednesday April 3 as well. Interment followed in Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg.
