Earla (Finley) Mester

EARLA (FINLEY) MESTER, 67, of Colliers, WV, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA, after a brief illness. Earla was born on August 2, 1956. She was the daughter of the late Edwin and Caroline (Fetterman) Finley. Earla graduated from Brooke High School and was proud to be a trumpet player in the Marching Band. She started working at the former Valley Haven, Wellsburg as a nurse’s aid and as a beautician, starting their first salon in-house. Later, she worked for Healthways as supervisor in one of the agency’s group homes. Earla was a beautician by trade for nearly 50 years. Her final shop setup was with Weirton Geriatric Center. Earla was always proud and honored to help individuals as a part of the healing process and senior living, to look their best. She never wanted anyone not to have their hair fixed, working with some local funeral homes to assist with beautician services. Earla was known for dabbling in various crafting projects, from Christmas wreaths, to pins with charms and crocheting in addition to playing the piano. In addition to her parents, Edwin and Caroline, Earla was preceded in death by her two brothers, David and Brian Finley. Earla is survived by her husband of 16 years, Luke Mester; two sons, James Wade and his companion, Emily and Joe Wade and his wife, Michelle; two grandchildren, Noah and Tilly; a brother, Craig Finley and his wife, Peggy; and nieces and nephews. Family and friends were received on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee. Interment was held privately. In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brooke County Animal Shelter, C/o James Funeral Home, 1245 Main Street, Follansbee, WV 26037. Earla’s final gift and final deed to assist others was completed through C.O.R.E (Center for Organ Recovery and Education) for educational purposes to assist physicians and researchers.
