Jason Alan Nixon

JASON ALAN NIXON, 57, of North East, PA, formerly of Weirton, WV, passed away suddenly at work on Friday April 12, 2024. Jason was born on January 1, 1967, to David and Jacqueline Nixon. He was the first baby born in Weirton, that year. He was preceded in death by his father, David, and his stepson, Josiah Lipscomb. He was a beloved son, husband, dad, brother, pap-pap, and uncle. He attended Weir High School and was a three-sport athlete, excelling in football and baseball. In high school, he earned all-conference honors in football in 1984 and baseball in 1985. He was awarded a football scholarship at Slippery Rock State College but passed that up to play baseball for Marshall University’s Thundering Herd. He held the home run record for several years. After college in 1990 he signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates for one year and played in the Gulf Coast League and six games at Single A Augusta. In addition, he was an avid golfer since high school, motorcycle enthusiast and developed a passion for fishing. He had recently been involved in actively pursuing a renewed deeper faith. Jason began his working career working with his father as an apprentice lineman. He became a District Manager then Regional Manager with Huntington Testing where he learned the skills he needed in order to catapult him to his many years at First Energy where he moved up the ladder to his final position as Director, PA Operations-Erie Region. Nothing he accomplished compared to how he loved his family. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Cori; his daughter, Madison Nixon (Matthew Peppard); his son Jayse Nixon, at home; and Joshua Nixon; stepson, Tyas Lipscomb; his sisters, Jenny Anderson (Tom), Julie Yingst (Gary), and Felicia Gurrera (Michael); and his adoring grandchildren, Varo, Atticus, and Luna Peppard. In addition, he leaves many adoring nieces and nephews, in laws, cousins, and friends. Friends and relatives were received at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton, where funeral services for Jason were also held, with Danny Lipscomb presiding.
