CAROLYN LEE “COOKIE” SPERRINGER, 79, of Wellsburg, WV died peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2024, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA with her family by her side. She was born on October 23, 1944, in Windsor Heights, WV, a daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Klein) Pratz. In addition to her parents Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband, Dale Wayne Sperringer, Sr. Carolyn was a member of the Bethany Pike Church of God. In her spare time, she loved to make ceramics along with baking and decorating cakes for all types of celebrations. She proudly took on the title of being a homemaker for her husband and family. Carolyn enjoyed cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was affectionately known to all who knew her as “Grandma Cookie.” Carolyn was a dedicated caregiver to extended family members and her home was always open to extended family and friends. She is survived by six children: Tammy Sperringer of Moundsville, WV, Dale Wayne Sperringer, Jr., Marsha Sperringer (Tom Rouse), both of Wellsburg, WV, Joyce Petrosky and fiancé (Bill Literal) of Chehalis, WA, and Todd (Miranda) Sperringer and Kurt (Loni) Sperringer, both of Colliers, WV; one brother, Joseph (Mary “Froncy”) Pratz of Barnesville, OH; one sister, Mary Catherine “Sis” Bresinger of Bellaire, OH; nine grandchildren: Brittany, Teewanee, Dalton, Andrew, Braelyn, Ty, Kamden, Kolby, and Klaire; six great grandchildren: Olivia, Layla, Freya, Abel, Laka, and Raya; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation for Carolyn was held on Monday, May 27, 2024 and again on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 until the time of the funeral service, with Pastor James Seabright officiating at Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee. Interment followed at Kadesh Chapel Cemetery Beech Bottom. Arrangements were under the direction of Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee.
