Brooke Hills Playhouse announces auditions for the final two shows of the 53rd season, which will be held at the Playhouse on Saturday, June 8.
Auditions for “Rex’s Exes,” written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten, will begin at 10 a.m. We’re back in Texas again! This deliciously funny Southern-fried farce finds the Verdeen cousins of Sweetgum—Gaynelle, Peaches, and Jimmie Wyvette—teetering on the brink of disaster again!
In addition to the Verdeen cousins, the cast includes five more women and three men. Ages for these characters range from the 40s up to the 80s. Performance dates are August 16-18 and 23-25.
At 11 a.m. ”The Wizard of Oz” auditions begin. This is the children’s play adapted by Claude Townley from L. Frank Baum’s book, which became one of the most successful novels in American literature. Children should be at least five years old to audition, and characters include the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy, Toto, Uncle Henry, Aunt Em, Witch of the North, Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, Cowardly Lion. King of the Winged Monkeys, Three Ozites, Glinda, the Witch of the South, Assorted Munchkins, Ozites, and Winged Monkeys. Performance dates are July 26-28 and August 2-4.
Auditions for both shows will include cold readings from the script.
