Robert Bruce Polewac

ROBERT BRUCE POLEWAC, 71, of New Cumberland, WV, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the Weirton Medical Center. His life was a testament to hard work, dedication, talent, and loyalty. Born on April 23, 1953, in Steubenville, OH, Robert was the youngest of two children born to Stanley and Alberta May Chambers Polewac, Robert spent his formative years in Weirton, WV, where he graduated from Weir High School in 1971. Shortly after high school, Robert began a dedicated career at Weirton Steel, starting as a laborer and working his way up to a Roller. His commitment and hard work spanned an impressive 42 years until his retirement. Robert was a nurturing and caring soul, beloved by many for his loyalty and kindness. His circle of friends was vast, a testament to his warm and affable nature. Outside of his work at the mill, Robert was a gifted woodworker, a talent he showcased in the meticulous craftsmanship of his home, from baseboards to kitchen cabinets. He was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club. Robert was predeceased by his father Stanley on January 2, 1988 and his mother Alberta on May 29, 2008. Robert’s tender care for his mother during her lifetime will always be remembered with gratitude and affection. He will be remembered with love by his sister, Roberta J. Lemley, and her husband, Carl W. Lemley of Sistersville, WV. He will also be deeply missed by his loving companion of 10 years, John Roberts, his former companion and friend of 30 years, Bobby Robison, and his close friend, Ismeal “Alex” Aguilar, all of whom he resided with. Visitation was on Friday, May 24, 2024 at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton. Private family funeral services were held on Saturday, May 25, 2024.
