Istvan Varga

ISTVAN VARGA, 84, of Follansbee WV died peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Trinity West in Steubenville, OH. He was born on March 7, 1940, in Sarvar, Hungary a son of the late Jozsaf and Ilona (Acs) Varga. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline (Gleason) Varga; one daughter, Kathleen Dillie; and two brothers, Jozsaf and Laslo Varga. Istvan graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1958. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. Later, he attended locksmith trade school. He worked for DiCarlo’s Pizza as a baker and later Hone and Sons as a truck driver. Istvan was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He is survived by three children: Samantha Kovach and companion Thomas Smith of Wintersville, OH, Steven (Ashley) Varga of Follansbee, WV, and Christine Hughes of Follansbee; son-in-law, Barry Dillie of Wellsburg, WV; 11 grandchildren: Josh, Mike, Ashley, Bryan, Barry, Mark, Jennifer, Gabriella, Savanah, Juliet, and James; 25 great grandchildren; his beloved furry companion, Wendy; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A private visitation and service was held at the convenience of the family at Franklin Cemetery, where Istvan was laid to rest. Arrangements were under the direction of Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee.
