Judith “Vickers” Bowman

JUDITH “VICKERS” BOWMAN, 80, of Follansbee, WV, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024. Born on November 14, 1943, Judith was the cherished daughter of William Robert Vickers and Helen Sauer Vickers, who both preceded her in death. A devoted educator, Judith dedicated her life to teaching and tutoring, profoundly impacting countless students with her passion for learning and her unwavering support. Her legacy in education is remembered fondly by the many friends and students whose lives she touched. Judith’s life was marked by her love for her family and her vibrant spirit. She is survived by her beloved sister, Roberta “Vickers” Cooper, and was adored by her niece and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Bowman, Judith found joy and companionship in her cherished relationships. A proud alumna of Follansbee High School, Judith was honored as Homecoming Queen and distinguished herself by being elected Governor of West Virginia Rhododendron Girls State. Her leadership and community spirit extended beyond her school years as she actively participated in numerous community clubs over the years. Judith was a fervent supporter of the Michigan Wolverines, often heard cheering “Go Blue!” with unwavering enthusiasm. Her love for the team was well-known and shared among her friends and family. Judith Bowman will be remembered for her generous heart, her dedication to education, and her spirited involvement in the community. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and an indelible impact on those who were fortunate enough to know her. A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 4:30 p.m. until the time of Celebration of Life Service at 6:30 p.m. at Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee.
