ELEANOR CANDIDA (MAZZELLA) EVANS, 88, of Beech Bottom, WV died peacefully with her daughter by her side on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at home. She was born on June 5, 1936, in Wheeling, WV a daughter of the daughter of the late Charles Silvio and Anna Marie (Impavido) Mazzella. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband Matthew Evans Jr. on December 20, 2015. She graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1954 and then graduated from Wheeling Hospital School of Nursing. She retired after many years from the Brooke County Health Department where she worked as a registered nurse. Eleanor was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She is survived by four devoted children: Michelle Evans at home, Anna Marie (Chris) Eagle of Glen Rock, PA, and twin sons, Matthew (Lisa) Evans of York, PA, and Michael (Lori) Evans of Weirton, WV; one brother, Joseph Mazzella and companion Scott Beaver of Wheeling, WV; six grandchildren: Christopher, Nicholas, and Matthew Anthony Eagle, Matthew Joseph, Michael, and Danielle Evans; and four great grandchildren: Peyton Eagle, Everett Eagle, Finnick Eagle, and Benjamin Eagle. Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee, with a vigil service following. A Catholic funeral mass was celebrated on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at St. Johns Evangelist Church, Wellsburg, with the Rev. Father Justin Golna as celebrant.
