LONNEY HOWARD JACKSON, 82, of Wellsburg, WV, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, July 19, 2024. He was born in Weirton, WV on July 1, 1942 to the late Mary Anderson Jackson and John Howard Jackson. Lonney worked as a pickler foreman and retired from Weirton Steel after 33 years. After retiring he worked for Crown Communications for four years. Lonney was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. They say he was the happiest in a tree. He was a member of the Whitetail Wizards and the Brooke County Sportsman Club. One of Lonney’s greatest achievements was becoming a brown belt in Gojaru Karate. Lonney was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Anderson Jackson and John Jackson; his four brothers, Leland Jackson, Larry Jackson, Lyle Jackson and William Jackson; and his nephew, Scott Jackson. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 61 years, Madelon Platter Jackson and their two sons, Doug Jackson (Emily Hores) and Chris Jackson all of Wellsburg, WV; grandchildren, Katie Castellucci of Boston, MA, and Brynna Jackson of Wellsburg; brother-in-law, Marvin Platter, Jr. (Kathy Platter) of Melbourne, FL; sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Platter Stewart (Tom Stewart) of Melbourne, FL; special extended family: Theresa Reed Kowcheck, Mark Kowcheck, Jentzen Kowcheck, Karleigh Kowcheck and Joei Platt all of Wellsburg; and\ many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to recognize and thank Valley Hospice for all of the loving care they have provided to Lonney and our family. Services will be held at Reasner Funeral Home in Wellsburg, WV on Thursday, August 1, 2024. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until a Celebration of Lonny’s Life at 6 p.m.
