West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC) is announcing the expansion of its HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) program to the Weirton Campus starting this fall semester. Classes will commence on August 26.
WVNCC has offered the HVACR program on its Wheeling campus for several years and will now extend this opportunity to students in the Weirton area. Earlier this year, WVNCC became the first college or university in the state of West Virginia to be accredited by HVAC Excellence, setting a high standard for HVACR education.
“Our HVACR program equips students with the essential skills and knowledge they need to excel in the industry,” commented John Labriola, Associate Professor and Program Director of HVACR. “Our recent program accreditation by HVAC Excellence recognizes the quality of our program and our commitment to providing hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for real-world challenges.”
The HVACR program at WVNCC combines classroom learning with hands-on training. Students earn their Associate in Applied Science in HVACR in just two years. The program qualifies for free tuition through the West Virginia Invests grant for eligible West Virginia residents. Additionally, Ohio residents benefit from affordable in-state tuition rates, and Pennsylvania residents qualify for affordable metro rates.
Dr. Mosser, President of WVNCC, highlighted the strategic importance of bringing the HVACR program to Weirton. “One of the key reasons for expanding our HVACR program to Weirton is the significant growth and expansion the region is experiencing. With several national firms opening new production facilities in the area and the recent closure of two nearby technical colleges, there is increased demand for high quality HVACR training opportunities and skilled HVACR technicians in Weirton. Northern is committed to supporting Weirton’s economic growth by providing top-notch education and training to meet this demand.”
