Terrill “Terry” Lee Lewis

TERRILL “TERRY” LEE LEWIS, 71, of Weirton, WV passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, July 25, 2024, with his loving wife Linda by his side. Born in Steubenville, OH, on July 14, 1953, Terry was one of four children born to William and Joan Thomas Lewis. A proud Weir High School graduate in 1972, Terry dedicated 33 years of demanding work to Weirton Steel, where he was employed in the Blast Furnace. His strong work ethic and dedication to his job were well-known among his colleagues and friends. Terry was a man of deep faith, actively attending the Promise of Victory Church of God. His commitment to his church was evident through his roles as a board member, usher, and maintenance person, ensuring the church was in top condition for his fellow congregants. Beyond his professional and spiritual life, he was heavily involved in local sports, coaching softball, and participating as a member of the Weirton Baseball Association. One of his proudest achievements was coaching the girls’ softball team to a state championship when they were just 12 years old. This talented group of girls, under Terry’s mentorship, went on to win another state championship in high school, a testament to his exceptional coaching and guidance. Terry later became a SSAC Official, umpiring several surrounding area high school games as well as pony league and men’s softball games. Terry, a dedicated Steelers and Pirates fan, often cheered for his favorite teams. He was also an avid local hunter, finding peace and joy in the great outdoors. Terry cherished his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored. His legacy of love, faith, and community service will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his infant identical twin brother Larry Lewis, and sister Debbie Hrancho. Terry is survived by his wife, Linda White Lewis, whom he married on June 10, 1974, recently celebrating fifty years of marriage together; son, Terrill “TJ” Lewis (Debbie Cuprik) of Weirton, WV; daughter, Melissa (Chris) Michael of Milton, WV; brother, Danny Lewis of New Cumberland, WV; sister, Christine Lewis-Parr of Bellaire, OH; grandchildren, Dustin (Devin) Cuprik, Kayli Lewis, Brielle Michael and Brayden Michael, and great-grandchildren, Luther Cuprik and Valerie Cuprik. Friends were invited to visit Terrill’s family on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton where funeral services were co-celebrated by Bishop Albert Mitchem and Pastor Curt Moser on Tuesday. Terry’s request for cremation has been honored. He was cremated at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home Crematory.
